Coming this August

In May 2008, the military moved us from Barstow, California to Washington DC.  The joy I felt from this move was beyond words.  I never want to live or be in a desert ever again.  I realized I am not much of a west coast girl as well during our 3 years in California.  Washington DC is my home - though I hail from Jersey.

It has been a great year here in DC.  I have enjoyed everyday of it.  In 33 days, I will be saying goodbye to DC yet again.  Oh how I will miss this place.  I hope we can return soon.

In August, we will be making our 2nd cross country drive.  We are headed back to California.  This saddens me greatly.  At least this time we will be living in San Diego, in civilization.  I have Sea World to look forward to, along with Disney.  I have made friends with a fellow Marine wife, and another friend is just a short drive away.

So look for the upcoming Cross Country Drive Blogs, telling of our adventures along the way.  And all new subject matters in my photography!

Budding Photographer

My daughter is a piece of work, and a very special person. She defied odds before she even entered the world, endured some hard times before arriving as well and again once she did arrive, and showed her stubbornness from the get go.

From the moment we brought her home, she started showing her physical advancements. Something that never ends to this day. At just days old, she was lifting her head and turning it when placed belly to chest with one of us. By just a few weeks old, she would wiggle around while lifting her head in that same position.

By 13 months, she was holding a writing/drawing utensil perfectly, like an adult would. She couldn't be bothered fisting it like a normal child. And she loves to write and draw still, in the same fashion. My three year old nephew is just learning to hold his crayons/pens the proper way. And she works very intently with a serious look of concentration, inherited from her father.

Now at 20 months, she has moved on to photography. Looks like all those days of constantly getting her photo taken - okay so I was a little obsessed of documenting each and every outfit she wore as a baby - she is ready to turn the camera on the rest of us. And teaching us the proper ways of taking a picture and using the camera. My little budding perfectionist photographer and artist.

To the Military

One constant in my life has always been my appreciation and awe towards those that defend, protect, and create our freedoms and laws of this wonderful nation.  My father was a cop for the first 8 years of my life.  My 8th grade teacher opened my eyes about history and the importance of it, especially during our class trip to Washington DC.  I ended up going to college right outside DC in Northern Virginia and even got a job with the government.  Till I met my husband and left my job so he could stay in the military.  It really is no surprise I married into the military. Now I am working on giving back to those that served this great nation through my photography.

I have created my first series set - Arlington National Cemetery.  Portion of proceeds from the sales of any prints in this series will be donated  to Wreaths Across America.

They are the organization that ensures there are wreaths and flags placed at each headstone in the cemetery during holidays and have expanded to other cemeteries across the nation honoring fellow veterans.

Welcome to Jrzy Girl Photography

Photography gives so much joy. To those that take the pictures to those that buy and hang them on their walls. Something that keeps on giving, with something new each time. I had lost this passion and feelings for many years. That passion of searching for those one of a kind shots or ones that provoke emotion and thought from on lookers. I just muddled through my wordly adventures, missing and yearning for that passion again. I regret those years, and vow not to loose them again. Having our daughter, wanting to capture her firsts and take these beautiful unique shots of her as she grows - and she is very much the brunt of most of my photo shoots. What can I say, she takes some beautiful shots. Being a stay at home mom, I now have the chance to make something out of this passion and I hope I can. Being a military wife about to move again gives loads of opportunity for new places to photograph.

I hope you enjoy these as much as I do.

And I hope I can keep up on this blog better than my other ones :)
